Why ‘The Rubicon’ name?

The Rubicon is a small river that once separated Italy from Gaul. It had never been crossed by an army.

Fearing Caesar’s growing power in Gaul, Pompey and the senate ordered Caesar to return to Rome without his army. In an extraordinary act of courageous leadership, Caesar requested that his army joined him at the banks of The Rubicon. His army marched beside him. To choose to defy Pompey and the senate, Caesar’s crossing of The Rubicon was a fundamental challenge to the status quo that forever changed The Roman Empire.
